University joined the Earth Hour action
On March 29, 2014 at 20:30, people around the world turned off their lights for one hour, Earth Hour. Earth Hour - an opportunity to give people a voice in deciding the future of our planet, but also to unite our efforts for permament development and conservation of nature around us for the sake of our children and grandchildren! Earth Hour - a simple daily activities - to turn off light and water, to recycle paper, go cycling, and others.
Initiated by staff research laboratory "Ecology and Education" 27 to 29 March 2014 was organized and conducted a number of events concerning Earth Hour. Initiated by Professor Svetlana Sovhira and Postgraduate Kuhai Marina was organized and held a master class on making paper lanterns for saving electricity, paper, water and the environment. Lanterns were hung in the Main Building of the University for the purpose of campaigning and advocacy work of conservation and environmental education of students.
On March 29 to this event, which was organized in the new building of the university joined tutors and students of the Natural Sciences and Geography Department, teachers, parents and pupils of school number 3 from Uman. During the action, there was a concert, which was attended by students and pupils.
Also joined the action Tkachenko Ihor – docent. He suggested overview star-studded sky with a telescope. Organizers were grateful for that event
At the end of Earth Hour were launched sky lanterns.
Earth Hour began in Sydney (Australia) in 2007, a year later, this event has become a global environmental initiative, joined by over 100 million people from 35 countries, and Ukraine in 2009, along with 126 other countries, also joined to the worldwide Earth Hour! Earth Hour 2013 became an unprecedented success - an action supported by 152 countries, 7,000 cities, 40 of which - in Ukraine.
